How To Get Free Broadband With TalkTalk For Job Seekers?

By on September 30, 2021 0

TalkTalk is teaming up with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to offer six months of free broadband access to job seekers across the UK. Internet access is critical for those looking for a job or needing access to government support services. So the collaboration between TalkTalk and Jobcentre Plus can help those most affected by the pandemic get the support they need.

The free broadband coupon scheme was tested in Greater Manchester and Cheshire during the second lockout last year. And thanks to this success, it is now scheduled to roll out across the UK.

Daniel Kasmir, Chief People & Procurement Officer at TalkTalk said: “We believe that reliable broadband is a right, not a privilege. However, many people in the UK have problems accessing the internet and the effects of the pandemic have doubled the number of Universal Credit applicants in a year.

“The successful trial of this program in the northwest shows the value of broadband internet access for job seekers. Working with DWP to implement this program nationally supports our mission to democratize the internet and provide affordable, high-quality connectivity for all, helping to bridge the UK digital divide. ”

Mims Davies, UK Employment Minister told The Guardian: “We want to support jobseekers in every way possible on their way to securing employment, which includes empowering by making sure they are digitally connected and have access to the full range of support offered by our Work Plan and our JobHelp site ”.

What is included in the free TalkTalk broadband package for job seekers?

Eligible job seekers will be eligible for the TalkTalk Fiber 35 package, which has an average download speed of 38 Mbps and an average upload speed of 9 Mbps. The Fiber 25 bundle, which typically costs £ 23 a month on an 18-month contract, will be available free for six months.

More importantly, there is no obligation to continue TalkTalk after six months. In fact, the contract will be terminated, not automatically renewed. Customers will have to choose to continue TalkTalk or they will be able to switch to the new broadband offering if they so choose.

It is a standard broadband fiber offering offering job seekers high bandwidth and broadband speed to do the basics and access the internet when they are looking for a job. It does not include any additional services such as integration connections or pay-TV services. But it will come with important key features like unlimited data usage, an included Wi-Fi router, and access to its internet security features.

Note: If you choose to leave TalkTalk, you must return the Wi-Fi router as part of the prepaid prepaid return service provided.

How to Apply for Free Broadband with TalkTalk

Jobcentre Plus employees will be trained on the new program and will have to identify eligible participants so that they can offer vouchers. If you’re currently out of work, ask your Jobcentre Plus job coach if you qualify for the program, especially if you don’t currently have broadband internet access at home. It will be up to Jobcentre Plus employees to define entitlements which they will have to assess on a case-by-case basis. But don’t worry, there is no limit to the number of coupon referral codes available and there is currently no final application date.

If you qualify, your job coach will provide you with a referral code that you can use to contact TalkTalk directly and arrange the installation. This means that you will bypass the credit checks that are usually required to use the service. So it shouldn’t have any negative impact on your credit score.
