Would you like to bring some Bollywood into your front room? You can now access multiple Asian channels to make your TV viewing experience more attractive.

Only two providers offer UK Asian TV channels: Sky and Virgin Media. Sky TV offers the widest range of Indian TV channels and best of all, they are free and automatically included with Sky’s basic package, Sky Signature.

Virgin offers a slightly more limited range of channels and you will have to pay extra for your existing package before you can watch them. Here are two package options to keep you singing and dancing in the living room.

Sky has the most Indian and Asian channels

Sky TV has the widest range of Asian channels, and as of August 2017, they have been available for free on TV packages. Sky offers 19 channels. This means you can sing Bollywood songs on B4U Music, watch teary drama on Rishtey TV, and follow soap opera feuds and love triangles on his many Utsav channels.

You can watch comedy, drama or reality shows like Dance India Dance on the Zee TV family channel on the comedy channel or drama on the Zee TV family channel, or the best Bollywood movies from Zee Cinema, which also includes WWE matches in Hindi. There is also a Zee channel for the Punjabi-speaking community. Sony Entertainment Television also has Hindi crime and horror shows, plus the best Hindi reality shows and soap operas.

Indian sports are available to sports fans

Entertainment in Asia is about more than just Bollywood. The Asian TV package wouldn’t be complete without sports. Twenty20 cricket fans can watch the favorite Indian Premier League on Sky Sports. You must pay extra to access these channels with your Sky Entertainment package, or you can take advantage of your NOW TV membership for temporary use over the weekend or monthly.

Virgin offers a great selection of Asian channels – but you have to pay for them

Virgin Media customers do not receive automatic free access to Asian channels. If you want to watch channels like Zee TV or Star, you’ll need to add the channels to your existing package. New customers can choose any Virgin TV package to which they can then join the Asian Mela package which includes 15 channels including Star Gold, Zee TV and Colors Rishtey for £ 12 per month. It is no longer possible to add individual channels using Virgin Media.

As a bonus, customers who sign up for the Asian Mela add-on will also receive 500 minutes of free calls per month to landlines in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The best Asian TV packages

If you want to watch Asian TV you have to make sure you are getting the best channels. These are the main channels and some of the best shows you don’t want to miss.

Zee TV

Zee TV was India’s first Hindi-language cable channel. It has existed since 1992. It is promoted as a family and entertainment oriented channel and broadcasts such as India’s Best Cinestars, which has given aspiring actors the chance to win a lead role in a movie. It also has flagship programs such as the crime drama Detective Didi.

Zee also airs the latest series Anupamaa, as well as the popular Indian Kundali Bhagya soap, which tells the stories of the two sisters Pragya and Preet and their attempts to reunite with their mother. It also has its own movie channel called Zee Cinema which shows the best Hindi movies.

You don’t just have to rely on Zee TV for entertainment now that other global companies have highlighted the popularity of entertainment in the region. Zee also owns Television & TV, which broadcasts a range of soap programs and series.

Sony Entertainment TV

There is also Sony Entertainment Television (SET), which broadcasts popular shows such as the reality TV show Crime Patrol Satark. You can also watch daily dramas at Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi or enjoy the thrill of the reality show Super Dancer and Indian Idol.

Romantic drama lovers will enjoy immersing themselves in Ahaan and Ishqi’s struggles in Ishk Par Zor Nahi. You can even watch the popular comedy show The Kapil Sharma Show. SET also has a number of sister channels that offer sports, cinema and music.

TV star

Rupert Murdoch’s media company 21st Century Fox is also present on Star TV. It offers a range of channels such as entertainment on Star Plus, which features prime-time soap operas and an Indian performance of British Got Talent with India’s Next Superstars.

Star TV also features India’s longest-running soap, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, which has been released since 2009 – a big achievement considering Indian series are regularly canned. The program presents the lives of a young couple Akshar and Naitika Singhania as they manage their children and extended families.

You can also watch movies about Star Gold and soccer, cricket and other sports on Star Sports.

Rishtey TV colors

Fans of the more classic Indian soap operas and dramas can also watch Colors Rishtey, which airs reruns of older content and drama that in some cases are no longer produced or broadcast.

B4U music

In addition to dramas, soap operas and reality TV, you can also dance to the latest tunes or find out celebrity gossip on B4U Music. This channel features the latest Bhangra, Bollywood and Indipop music videos as well as top charts and celebrity interviews.

B4U videos

The sister channel of B4U Movies shows a wide variety of contemporary and classic Bollywood movies.
