Securitize Announces the Launch of Securitize Capital with Two Cryptocurrency Yield Funds

By on May 26, 2021 0

SAN FRANCISCO, May 26, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Securitize, Inc today announced the launch of Securitize Capital, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary, which will serve as an alternative investment manager of digital asset funds to provide investors with exposure to crypto currencies and decentralized finance (DeFi) in the form of digital asset securities.

Securitize Capital was born from the observation that it is complicated for institutional investors to access exposure to cryptocurrencies and the returns obtained through DeFi blockchain strategies. Securitize Capital will provide vehicles to institutional and accredited investors to access this exposure.

Securitize Capital’s two flagship funds will be launched in early June. They will offer investors direct exposure to Bitcoin (BTC) or USD Coin (USDC), with higher returns and lower fees than funds currently on the market.

The “Securitize Capital BTC Yield Fund” and the “USDC Yield Fund” are both particularly well suited to institutional and individual investors due to their traditional security structure and attractive management fees of only 0.50%. In addition, these offerings should play a unique role as part of a balanced portfolio, as they are not likely to move in sync with traditional financial markets, making them potential hedges against other movements in the market. market and powerful potential drivers of return.

Securitize Capital engaged Anchorage Lending CA, LLC, a subsidiary of Anchorage Digital Bank, a leading digital asset bank, and Genesis, a prime broker, to research lending opportunities. The funds will be administered by MG Stover & Co and audited by Spicer Jeffries, LLP.

When the funds are opened for participation in early June, they will initially only be available to accredited and institutional investors. To participate, investors will first need to create a Securitize ID account, after which they will have access to Bitcoin and USDC yield funds, as well as a digital asset market containing a wide range of investment options, including including private equity, debt, commodities, funds and other alternative assets.

The fund’s shares will be issued as registered digital asset securities on the Algorand blockchain, with Securitize as the transfer agent.

“We are seeing very strong demand from institutional investors for exposure to cryptocurrencies. They want to go beyond just holding a cryptocurrency, but instead seek to access the return generated by DeFi strategies,” said Carlos domingo, CEO of Securitize. “The current offers are very limited, most of them with no return and no high fees. There is nothing in the market like the Institutional Grade Funds that we are announcing today and we look forward to launching more products like this in the future. “

“We are proud to enable institutions like Securitize to securely lend digital assets through Anchorage Financing,” said Anchorage Digital president and co-founder, Diogo Mónica. “Anchorage Digital has always been committed to providing better access to digital assets and these funds make Bitcoin and Stablecoin investing accessible to a whole new range of participants.”

“Genesis launched the first OTC bitcoin trading desk in the United States in 2013. Since then, we have grown to facilitate billions of dollars in transactions, loans and monthly transactions, including over $ 60 billion at Q1 ’21. As the demand for digital currencies by institutional investors grows, we are excited to be working with Securitize. Together, we are making digital currencies and yield available to institutional investors in the form of funds they already know, ”said Matt Ballensweig, Head of Institutional Lending at Genesis.
