Sky Broadband Deals 2021 – Best packages and offers
About Sky broadband
With over six million existing customers in the UK, Sky is one of the country’s largest and most popular broadband providers.
Here’s everything you need to know about Sky broadband – what’s on offer, whether the provider is right for you, and what to expect in terms of hardware, installation, customer support, and more.
If you want to make a change, we’ll also show you the best deals currently offered by the brand.
Why Choose Sky Broadband?
A large and popular supplier with a long history of excellent service, the supplier is an excellent choice for many reasons.
The brand offers competitive average speeds for both standard and fiber services, and the service is truly unlimited on most packages. It also consistently scores high in customer satisfaction surveys and offers arguably the best combined TV and broadband packages in the UK market.
As with any provider, there are downsides to signing up with Sky. For example, with some packages, installation costs can be high and their fiber services have limited availability nationwide – especially at the highest speeds.

How much does Sky broadband cost?
The provider is certainly not the cheapest UK broadband provider, but the quality of service, high speeds and good customer support make it worth the extra expense for some customers. Sky broadband packages start at £ 28 per month.
How long are Sky contracts?
Sky has a minimum contract term of 18 months and does not offer short term broadband contracts on an ongoing basis, month to month.
If you cancel mid-term you will have to pay an early exit fee so it’s best not to sign up for the contract as you know you may have to cancel at the minimum time – perhaps if you want to move your home or are a student living in a temporary accommodation .

What broadband packages does Sky offer?
Sky offers both standalone broadband and a range of bundled packages.
Only broadband access to Sky services
As with most UK providers, Sky offers its broadband service on its own. You will need a landline connection, and if you make any calls, they will be charged on a regular basis.
Sky broadband and telephone
All carrier packages include your landline service – even if you don’t use it for voice calls.
If you regularly use a landline, instead of paying individually for each call made, it’s worth adding a calling package with free calls included in the price. The brand has great deals on offer, including free evening calls, weekend calls, or anytime.
Broadband Internet and Sky TV
As you might expect, you’ll find a wide variety of broadband and TV package options. Standard with an 18-month contract, you can choose from over 300 channels tailored to the interests of your household, from sports to shopping. Sign up for a joint broadband and TV deal with Sky and you’ll also get a free Sky TV box.
You don’t have to be a Sky TV customer to get Sky Broadband and vice versa, but their packages can offer great value.

What speeds does Sky broadband offer?
There are three different broadband packages to choose from, each with a different average download speed.
Essential broadband connection is a basic broadband package with an average speed of 11 Mb / s and unlimited monthly usage. It is perfect for smaller households or people on a budget who are not big internet users.
Broadband Sky Super Fast is the most popular package of fiber-optic broadband lines with an average speed of 59 Mb / s and unlimited monthly use. You can turn an offer into a package by adding Sky TV and landlines if you wish, or keep it as a broadband service with pay-as-you-go only.
The sky broadband ultrafast it has a staggering average speed of 145 Mbps, making it 12 times faster than their base offering. It’s perfect for large content streaming, live streaming and online gaming, all without disrupting the rest of the big household.Sky Ultrafast is rolled out across the UK but currently only available to less than 20% of households.
As with any type of service, you can check if Sky Ultrafast is available where you live using our quick zip code checker.

What speed do i need for streaming?
For streaming HD content, downloading large files, or high-quality online games, you’ll likely need fiber, making Sky’s mid-range Superfast package the obvious choice. With an average download speed of 59Mbps, you’ll be able to enjoy TV and movie streaming services, and even smoothly stream in 4K ultra-high definition.
Most average or large households do not need the top speeds offered by Sky Ultrafast, which is currently available for less than 20% of UK addresses. If you live with a large number of heavy internet users, work from home, and enjoy streaming 4K content, ultra-fast broadband is surely fun and will keep you connected in the future.
What speed do I need to play?
You need slower speeds than you might think to play online games – Xbox Live recommends just 3Mbps (less than what is usually provided by most standard / broadband ADSL).
However, if you do need the optimal connection for your online gaming pranks, you’ll need much faster speeds than this – especially if you want to download digital games within reasonable timeframes, some of which may be over 100GB.
A fiber connection with a throughput of at least 30Mbps should be the minimum speed of the broadband package that is suitable for casual online gamers. Faster connections with lower latency also reduce the risk of latency disrupting your entertainment.

Installation of Sky Broadband and what to expect
Installing most of the services from your provider should be fairly straightforward. This is especially true if you already have an active phone line (which is the case in most households). Usually, you can also install a broadband connection yourself if you need an engineer to visit your property.
If you have selected an offer that includes Sky TV services, you must book an engineer visit to install the necessary equipment.
Your ISP charges an upfront setup fee for new contracts, which is usually around £ 20 to £ 40, depending on what package you’ve signed up for. Broadband-only deals tend to be cheaper to set up than TV packages. Make sure you have checked what the installation costs will be before signing on the dashed line.

What router will I get?
When you sign up with the provider, they’ll send you a router so you can connect to the service. The selected packet will determine which router will be sent.
Sky broadband hub: All current vendor packages come with the Sky Hub router, which is the newest device available and a major upgrade on previous models. One of the best features is better WiFi reception throughout your home.
For more information on the various routers Sky has offered in the past and the latest offering, read our Sky routers guide.
If you don’t need an engineer to help you set up the service, you may need a bit more help getting started. Our router setup guide should now be connected.
