Study shows central banks still struggle to make full use of strategic units
The discipline of “ strategic planning ” emerged in private sector companies in the 1960s and became standard management practice in the 1970s. In the early 2000s – and in response to unprecedented business challenges and resource restrictions – some central banks have started to introduce and adapt processes and instruments related to corporate strategic planning in their specific environment. The rest of the central banking community largely followed their example during the 2010s.
